Acupuncture

(With filiform needles)

Thin, small needles are inserted through the skin on certain points on the body to stimulate the energy flow, blood and fluid circulation, and/or release the bound muscle tissue. Depth of insertion varies widely depending on the condition, constitution and location of the body.

Japanese Acupuncture

(With filiform needles or Teishin needles)

Using even finer needles than the ones used in regular acupuncture, Japanese acupuncture doesn't insert needles, or inserts very shallowly (up to 4-5 mm). For a needlephobiac patient, precious metal tools called Teishin can be used on the skin surface. Moxa is often applied in this style of therapy as well.

NAET

(Nambudripad's Allergen Elimination Techniques)

Known for its profound transformational effects, NAET treatments can release or decrease your body's allergic reaction to a wide range of substances from food, environmental pollutants to internal biochemicals. It also works for the body's reactions to people and emotions as well.

Herbal Therapy

Internal and/or external Chinese herbal formulas

Combined with acupuncture treatment, herbal therapy (including diet therapy) works wonderfully long after your acupuncture session, continue to support your healing process. Depending on the patient's needs, I prescribe custom-made granule or bulk formula(s), or pre-made patent formulas.

Shoni-Hari

Japanese pediatric acupuncture without needling

For a youngster who is a few months old to up to 10-11 years old, I offer a gentle acupuncture using Teishin and massage. Treats common symptoms such as abdominal pain, tantrum, diarrhea, common cold, asthma, and slow development. A session is usually less than 30 min including negotiating with the child!

Moxibustion (Moxa)

Direct or indirect herbal heat therapy

Tiny amount of refined and dried mogwart plant fibers is burned directly on the skin, or a cigar-shaped pole burned close to the skin, releasing low grade heat to stimulate the circulation and healing process. Moxa therapy frequently accompanies acupuncture, and highly effective for stagnation.

Cupping & Gua Sha

Pain relief & revitalization

In cupping, suction over the skin is used to release muscle tightness and heat from the body, used for tightness in a larger area, common cold, fatigue etc. Gua Sha is a skin-scraping massage often used for tight muscles in the neck, shoulders, back, legs, but can also be used for a facial revitalization as well.

Tuina

Chinese massage

Complimentary to the acupuncture treatment, Tuina is often used at the beginning or the end of the session to enhance the effects of needling by promoting the blood and lymphatic circulations, relaxing and calming the body and the mind, and loosening the muscles.

Sotai

Japanese bodywork to release pain & gain mobility

Using the body's innate capacity to restore the balance in the structure, Sotai features gentle movement exercises to release the tension in the joints and muscles. The movements are simple and easeful, and once you learn how to do it, patients can often continue the therapy at home.

Qi Gong & Yoga Therapy

Treatment and self-care tool at home

Qi Gong and yoga can both be an important tool to cultivate the inner strength for an individual. Just like you would take a shower to clean your body surface, Qi Gong and/or yoga practice can clean the mind. Either can be incorporated in the session, or prescribed as a self-care tool at home for a patient.

Nutritional Supplementation

High quality supplements for temporary needs

I am a strong advocate of diet therapy before prescribing any supplements, but sometimes you might need to get some help with more potent dosage of specific nutrients, especially for pre- and post-op, particularly stressful time, or when you are going through NAET treatments.
